Mr Hausner successfully led the Bayer Schering Pharma leadership team through the integration of Bayer and Schering AG in early 2007 and has established an  organisation that is a well-performing specialty pharmaceutical company.

He navigated the company through several challenges including PBS Reform and has overseen the launch of two life-saving medicines on the PBS and a new oral contraceptive during his time here.

Hans-Dieter Hausner paid tribute to the strong work ethic of Australians and New Zealanders who work for Bayer Schering Pharma.

“I have found Australians and New Zealanders working for Bayer Schering Pharma to be very committed to improving the lives of patients,” Hans-Dieter Hausner said.

“I will miss the professional yet informal way Australians and New Zealanders do business.”

He has urged the industry to continue to work together in a cohesive manner if it is to gain further respect from the Australian Government and the community.

Hans-Dieter Hausner will take up his new position in January 2010 and his replacement is yet to be announced.
