Bayer Australia - Environment and Nature

Environment and Nature

Bayer places an equal emphasis on commercial success and environmentally friendly processes - making products that are safe and gentle on natural resources.

However, our responsibility to the environment goes beyond ensuring our own processes and products are safe – we also encourage environmental responsibility on a wider scale by supporting environmental education initiatives some of which are profiled below.

The 10% Challenge

Bayer has made an external commitment to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 10% in Australia by signing up to ‘The 10% Challenge’ an initiative of Choice and advocacy group Do Something! We are now part of a growing number of Australian businesses setting an example and hoping to start a trend.  » more

Partnership with UNEP

As partner to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Bayer organises and supports a number of specific projects which aim to strengthen environmental awareness and improve knowledge about the environment among young people. Building on their many years of cooperation in the Asia Pacific region, Bayer and UNEP decided in June 2004 to put their close and successful partnership on a global basis.

Bayer and UNEP are also proud to partner on the UNEP International Painting Competition. Aspiring young artists are invited to demonstrate their vision for a greener future by putting paint to paper in the 21st International Children’s Painting Competition.
